Do you search the USPTO database directly? +
Yes, for new applications. Every day we read the USPTO’s own records of new US trademark applications, which appear there the morning after they are filed, and check each mark for your name. The email quotes the record (mark, owner, serial number, filing date) and links to its USPTO status page. We also search the web for businesses using the name, since many never file.
Will you catch names that are similar but not the same? +
We look for your name the way pages write it, including small differences in spacing or capitals. Worried about a close variant, like a different spelling? Add it as its own watch for $2.99 and we’ll watch that name too.
What happens after you find one? +
We email you the quote and link and keep watching. Each new filing or business using your name gets its own email, at most one a day and up to 10, until your year is up. Nothing renews by itself.
Is this legal advice? +
No. We tell you what a public page says. Whether to oppose a filing, and by when, is a question for a trademark attorney. In the US you usually have 30 days after a mark is published to oppose it, and that can be extended.
Do you watch state registrations or other countries? +
Only when a public web page writes about them and the search finds it. We don’t read state or foreign trademark databases.
What if nothing turns up? +
Then you hear nothing, which is good news. The fee covers the watching, match or not. You get a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours or we can’t start.
