How soon will I hear? +
Not in real time. We check about once a day, and agendas usually post 5 to 14 days before a meeting. You hear within a day or two of the agenda going up, which leaves time to write in or show up.
Which cities can you read? +
Cities whose agendas are on Legistar, PrimeGov, CivicClerk, Granicus, BoardDocs or a CivicPlus Agenda Center we read item by item or from the agenda PDF. Elsewhere we use a daily web search. Before you pay, setup runs the check and shows what it can see for your city.
Can you watch every rezoning near my house? +
Name the street, the project, the applicant or the parcel, and the board, such as the plan commission or the zoning board of appeals. We can’t draw a circle around an address on an agenda.
What about building permits? +
A rezoning, variance or conditional use that goes before a board shows up on its agenda. For a permit issued at the counter, ask for permits on the street instead: we read the city’s own permit list in more than 60 places, and search the web everywhere else.
What counts as a match? +
The brief you approve says so. Usually it is a new agenda listing your street or project. Minutes, a hearing already held and a mention in the news don’t count.
What happens after the first email? +
We keep watching. The next agenda that lists it, like the council vote after the plan commission, gets its own email, at most one a day and up to 10, until your term ends. Nothing renews by itself.
