What can you watch? +
Almost anything that gets published on the public web: a price dropping or hitting its lowest in a year, something back in stock, a new job posting or rental listing, tickets going on sale, applications opening, a band playing near you, a recall, a bill becoming law, a person or company in the news. Ask in plain words. We search the web and read the top pages it finds, or we check up to three pages or feeds you name. Before you pay, we run the check and show you what we can see today.
How is this different from a page-change alert? +
A page-change alert tells you a page changed, and you read it to find out if it matters. Most changes don’t: a new banner, a moved menu, a date in the footer. We watch for the thing you asked about, not the page. We search the whole web for it, so you don’t have to know which page will have the news, and we only email when a page actually says it, quoted word for word.
How do you know it really happened? +
Every email quotes the page word for word and links to it. Before we send one, code checks that each quote is really on the page we read, that it covers everything you asked for, and that it wasn’t already there when you started. For web searches a second reader must agree too; if they disagree, we don’t email and a person reviews it.
What if you can’t do it? +
Then we tell you before you pay. If a page needs a login or blocks automated checks, if the web doesn’t write about what you’re asking, or if we can’t read a price for your product (some big shops, like Amazon, block us), we won’t take the case. If we accept a paid case and then can’t start it, you get a full refund.
Is this real-time? +
No. We check prices and pages you name about once every 24 hours. Other web searches run daily when the results say it could happen soon, otherwise every few days, never more than a week apart. Your case page shows the next check. When we find a match, we email you with the evidence we saw and when we saw it.
What won’t you do? +
We don’t log in to sites, get past paywalls or CAPTCHAs, or act for you — no purchases, bookings, applications or messages. We only see what’s published on the public web, and we check at most once a day, so don’t rely on us for emergencies.
